This Red Delicious/McIntosh cross is a medium sized, round, dark red apple of gorgeous appearance that ripens mid-September. It is sweet, juicy, firm and aromatic and excellent for pies and keeps better than the McIntosh.

Easy Apple Cobbler

2 1/2 cups sliced apples

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 cup orange juice

3 tbsp butter

3/4 cup flour

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 cup milk

Combine apples, 1 cup sugar, orange juice and 1 tablespoon butter in saucepan; bring to a boil. Combine remaining sugar, flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir in milk and remaining melted butter separately. Pour batter into greased baking dish; add apple mixture. Bake at 350 degrees until batter rises to top of dish. Serves 6.
